![]() ![]() At least on the G4, I know lost's of people have had issues with Marshmallow. If there's an older version (ie Lollipop vs Marshmallow) you COULD look into backing up the phone (NANDROID backup) just in case and then putting it back on Lollipop to see if the problem goes away. If all else fails, and you feel comfortable doing it, research what version of Android you have and what version your model of phone (not the Galaxy S7 but the WHOLE model number, ie the AT&T version of the Galaxy S7, probably SM-G930A if it's the S7, SM-G935A if it's the S7 Edge, but double check that to be sure) originally shipped with. Not the one from within Android but a hard reset from recovery. If that fails, I would try a factory reset. So I would suggest that you first try clearing not only the cache but also all the data from the messaging app in question in the app manage. I ended up doing a factory reset but that did not fix it! I then used a tool called LGUP to flash the old Android 5.1 Lollipop stock firmware image that the phone originally shipped with (they must've upgraded it at the factory or just installed 6 to begin with because the factory reset did not take it back to Lollipop). But you may not know, you can use direct dial, direct message and contact shortcuts in Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge to speed up the process. I would be talking to someone and this weird non-number "unknown" call would come through after 30 seconds to a minute of talk time and CONNECT ALL BY ITSELF no ringtone, no click to answer, one minute I'm talking to my mom, then I hear a "call connected/disconnected" beep, i pull the phone from my face to see what's up and it shows "unknown" as the connected contact and the talk time is at 10 seconds and counting up even though I've been talking to my mom for at least 30 seconds (not always my mom mind you, it did that with nearly every call that lasted longer than 30 seconds to a minute). Similarly, when you want to text someone, you have to start the messaging app, find the contact, compose the message, then send it from your Galaxy S7 or S7 edge.
